Nearly 200 musicians will perform this weekend in downtown Lancaster during the 2012 Launch Music Conference and Festival. The conference drew about 12,000 people last year. It’s a dual event with music business seminars and discussion in the daytime, followed by live music at night. Two of last year’s performers, The Shields Brothers and Harrisburg’s Ducky Duke, who is performing again this year, were selected to perform NBC’s hit singing competition “The Voice.”

Each night of the three-day conference has a headlining act. Rusted Root plays tonight. The Felice Brothers top the Friday bill, while Texas in July headlines Saturday night. Cost is $18 and $22 for Rusted Root; $15 for one-night wristbands to see all bands; $40 and $60 for badges for all events. Read more.

Another band on the bill tonight in Lancaster is Candlebox. Doors open for the show at 7 p.m. Evelyn’s Ashes opens. Tickets are $16 to $18. Click here for details. Don’t forget Live’s link to the band: In 2009, Chad Taylor, Chad Gracey and Patrick Dahlheimer started the band The Gracious Few with Candlebox members Kevin Martin and Sean Hennesy. Live made a surprise performance after a Candlebox gig at South by Southwest in March. I wonder if that will happen tonight…
